Established in Dubai in 2012, TECS has been a strategic partner for many of the region’s most prestigious events, including regular Dubai World Cups, the launch of Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, multiple UAE National Day and DIFC celebrations, the grand openings of Dubai Parks and Resorts and Dubai Design District, and countless Dubai International Film Festivals. We have provided on-set rigging for locally produced blockbuster movie franchises such as Star Wars, Star Trek, The Fast and the Furious and Mission Impossible, as well as setting the stage for touring megastars like Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake, Guns N’ Roses and the Rolling Stones.

Their experience of working locally with international clients, as well as on an international scale, means that our professional workforce is fully compliant in global health and safety standards.

TECS is strategically located in Dubai Investment Park; central to both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, two of the UAE’s most vibrant and event-centric cities.

SHANE MANNING

Owner/Founder and Head Rigger of TECS Event Services

In spite of a lengthy and illustrious career, Shane Manning retains a continued thirst for knowledge of all things rigging. Long recognised as one of the best in the business, Shane started out earning his rigging stripes way back in the late 1990s, crewing on the build of London’s esteemed Millennium Dome. Since then he has donned the harness for a multitude of prestigious events; the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, the 2004 Athens Olympics, Doha’s 2006 Asian Games, the erection of two of the world’s tallest flagpoles in Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Jordan, some of the most elaborate royal weddings in the world and most international superstar concerts you can think of, from Andrea Bocelli to Alicia Keys, Madonna to Metallica, and Pavarotti to Placebo.

Shane was also the head rigger and project manager on the hugely successful and iconic X Dubai X-Line ziplines, first over the Dubai Mall Fountains and more recently above Dubai Marina. Identifying a need in the market to bring ziplines and other ropes courses activities to the local landscape, he established a separate company, High and Wired Events LLC, in 2017.

Shane is known for his boundless enthusiasm, expertise and experience, but also his professionalism, dedication to the task, and reliability. He leads the company by example with his “can-do” attitude and maintains very positive working relationships with everyone, from event staff to managing directors.

Cynthia Arlappan

Office manager

Started her career with a Bachelor's degree from Mumbai University, in 2000. For 3 years, she worked with event companies in India, supporting them with administrative, coordination and designing projects. In 2009, she moved to Dubai to grow her career and be exposed to a new culture and environment. During these years, she gained experience in administrative duties, understanding how much communication is necessary to work in a multi-culture and and language environment. Joining TECS in 2015 as an office manager, she has good experience on managing customers, problem solving and working as part of a team.

Lewis Calderwood

HoD Automation and Special Projects

Lewis heads up TECS’ Automation and Special Projects department, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, experience, expertise and most importantly enthusiasm in the field of rigging, performer flying and stage automation. Not only does Lewis have an in-depth knowledge of automation systems and complex rigging solutions, he is also a qualified rigger - attaining his NRC Level2 (UK) in 2016, along with other various recognised-rigging and event industry certifcates acquired over the last 15+ years. New Zealand born and bred, his rigging career started in the land of the long white cloud in 2002. During the fundamental years in New Zealand, he was fortunate enough to work on a multitude of prestigious projects throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Complementing his live events, projects, Lewis has also seen his fair share of action in the film industry, most notably working on The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. Since then he had worked and toured extensively around the world but has been based in the Middle East for the last 9 years designing and operating some of the largest automation & rigging events the region has seen. Outlining a select few, they include Blue Man Group's “1st International Tour ever in Saudi”, Dubai’s RTA Tram Launch, Qaddia Ground Breaking Ceremony & Saudi Vision 2040. It’s somewhat of an understatement to say that Lewis brings a very hands on approach in his work ethic, along with sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with his colleagues which complements TECS ethos perfectly.

A collaboration of Frontline Rigging & Motion in the Netherlands and ZFX Flying in the USA, EZ-Axis was formalised in 2015 with the addition of TECS Event Services in Dubai to handle global automation services and rentals. We provide both rental of automation gear and complete automation services and solutions. We design, manufacture, and customise almost all of the items in-house, so we can easily provide the right solution if our stock offerings don’t fulfil all of your needs.

As a supplier of rigging, automation and technical solutions to the entertainment and event industries, Frontline Rigging offers a full range of services, including design, build and engineering. Frontline Rigging is also the venue rigging service provider for many of the country’s premium venues across the Netherlands. They offer a range of products and services that make any goals attainable; whenever, wherever and however their clients envision them.

ZFX FLYING
USA

ZFX has nearly 30 employees around the globe who are experts in their craft. Each of their designers and craftsmen are year-round full-time and dedicated professionals with keen instincts and the highest levels of training.
They are the only flying effects company who has an in-house custom design service; a studio dedicated to testing and proof of concept, in-house fabrication for custom effects, 3D motion control, quick cue writing, and an AWS-certified welding inspector on staff.
